System Specifications
Comments:
ECC memory and non-ECC memory may be mixed, but the ECC function will be disabled.

Models with the 400Mhz FSB accept 45ns PC600 and PC800 RDRAM modules. Models with the 533Mhz FSB accept 40ns PC800 and faster 32ns PC1066 RDRAM. 45ns, 40ns, and 32ns modules cannot be mixed so if in doubt check the markings on the existing modules to be certain.

Dell released the 8250 with the 850E chipset running at 533Mhz around June 2002 with cpu's running at 2.26, 2.4, 2.53, 2.66, 2.8 or 3.06GHz. Generally speaking, 8250's sold before then will have the 400Mhz FSB.

NB: RamCity sells the PC800 and PC1066 modules in ECC format only as they are significantly cheaper and compatible in all situations, regardless of whether ECC or non-ECC modules are currently installed.
