Q: Will my system recognise the maximum RAM upgrade?: The maximum memory your OS will recognise (whether it be Windows, Mac OS, or Linux/Unix) depends on the version you are running. 32-bit operating systems (which most people use) will usually see (and utilise) somewhere between 3GB to 3.5GB, depending on the peripheral configuration and motherboard limitations. A 64-bit OS will recognise beyond 4GB. Read more.

Q: Do I have to install memory in matching pairs?: In most cases the answer is no, you can install modules one at a time, and you can mix different module sizes in your computer. This system can support both the Chipkill (KTM5121/2G) and Non-Chipkill (KTM5121/1G) memory.

When mixing Chipkill and Non-Chipkill kits, the system will not perform the Chipkill function.
