Upgrade Path:
  • Virtually any configuration up to 24GB can be reached using any combination of 2 and 4GB ECC Unbuffered modules, or up to 48GB using 2, 4 and 8GB Registered modules, using two CPUs.
Comments:
  • MODULES MAY BE INSTALLED ONE AT A TIME; however, for optimum performance install modules across all three memory channels for triple channel memory interleaving.
  • If 4GB is installed, the recognized memory may be reduced to 3.5GB or less (depending on system configuration and memory allocation).
  • A 64-bit operating system is required to utilize more than 4GB of memory.
  • DDR3-1333 modules automatically clock down to 1066MHz and 800MHz depending on which Intel Xeon model is used and the number of modules installed.
  • Registered DIMMs on Z600 requires a systemboard with the C2 revision of the Intel 5520 chipset
  • 4GB DDR3-1333 Reg ECC modules come in two versions: 313/4G using x4 and 3138/4G using x8 DRAM.
  • The two parts may be installed in the same system but not within the same memory bank.
  • Use like modules for dual and triple channel operation.
  • This system supports either Registered ECC or Unbuffered ECC memory.
  • Mixing Registered ECC and Unbuffered ECC modules is not supported within this system
