You will need a USB Flash drive, and the Microsoft Media Creation tool. I am not going to link to the tool, the URL keeps changing but to find the latest version Google "Microsoft Media Creation Tool" and follow the Microsoft instructions. If you have an authorized Windows license on your computer, you are allowed to download Windows and re install the software. You will need a 25 character Windows license key but many computers have the key embedded into the firmware. If you skip the "enter license key" and continue to install, Windows detects the key in your firmware.
Media Creation tool is an exe program that will create a bootable Windows installation USB. To use the USB, shut down your computer, install the new SSD, plug in the installation USB you made and then turn on the computer. It should boot from the USB. If it does not, then you have to go into the BIOS. Hitting a function key like F1 or F9 at reboot will usually get you into the BIOS (you can chatGPT or Google it). Once in the BIOS, go to the Boot sequence/order and make sure USB is first. Save and continue. The computer should now boot off the USB and you can install a new copy Windows.
If you order the external SSD case, you can install the old SSD into the case and drag over your old documents

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0276/2794/6018/files/1119_a515011e-b347-4264-bd14-d52fd94fdd4e.png?v=1758518441
