Here at www.ramcity.com.au, we know that some people are nervous about buying products online. Every day, people call us up, just because they feel more comfortable 'talking to a real person'. So we took some time to tell you a bit about our story and give you some additional 'Peace of Mind' when shopping online with us.

Humble Beginnings

RamCity was founded by Rod Bland in 2003 who had dreamed of running his own online business since his early twenties (he's the one standing up in the picture on the right with the Team Leaders in the company).

It began as a part-time venture selling Kingston memory for a small number of systems, and the entire website catalogue was built by hand.

Rod had a full-time job already so processed orders in the early morning and developed the website and systems in the evening after work. The business grew and about 9 months later he quit his job and took the plunge into working on the business full-time.


Branching Out

RamCity began selling Kingston products only in Australia in 2003, and the business grew slow and steady.

Many other competitors were entering the market at that time, so in 2005 we began searching for manufacturing partners to produce our own brand of memory as a means of diversifying our business and offering customers a lower priced, yet high quality memory upgrade alternative.

For a few years we sold memory under our own brand name, and as the business grew we established relationships with brand name memory manufacturers.  You can read more about the brands of memory we sell here.

In 2011 we further expanded our product catalogue with Solid State Drives, Hard Drives and associated accessories.

In 2013, due to our much larger buying power, we now specialise in branded memory and SSD products from top tier manufacturers like Crucial (Micron), Samsung, Hynix and Mushkin.


Partnering Up

After a couple of years, there were too many orders to do our own warehousing, picking, packing and shipping, so we outsourced this to a ASX listed 3PWL (Third Party Warehousing and Logistics) company. Due to the superb location right near the Brisbane airport, we can quickly service customers in all states, with 98% of in-stock orders shipping the same day and arriving 1-2 business days later.

Building the Team

Due to our use of expert outsourcing, our Team remains a small group of people, with the majority working in the Customer Service Team. You can read more about our people on our About Us page.
