Current Market Overview

In December 2025 Micron announced they are discontinuing the Crucial brand. Crucial was the retail arm of Micron Technology. Effectively they were putting Crucial stickers on Micron modules, Crucial never actually made RAM. Micron has also issued an End Of Life (EOL) on all their DDR4 modules. Samsung and Hynix have also announced the same EOL on DDR4 RAM. This has left the market in a difficult situation with wide spread chip shortages which has driving up the price on all RAM.

To ensure supply, Ramcity has contracted a manufacturer to assemble DDR4 and DDR5 RAM in all speeds, formats and sizes using Micron and Samsung chips. This is the only way we can guarantee quality, supply and maintain our lifetime warranty on RAM. 

During this transition phase, there will be some Crucial branded RAM available but Ramcity reserves the right to replace or upgrade to equivalent or better components. In this case Crucial RAM will be swapped for Micron Ramcity RAM. This does not affect your warranty or compatibility. RAM still has a 30 day guarantee, still has a lifetime warranty.

This RAM module also operates at a standard voltage of 1.2V and is designed to allow you to run more applications simultaneously, switch between them faster, and provide a smoother computing experience.

Why is the speed of this RAM module shown as 2400 MT/s instead of 2400 Mhz?

When it comes to measuring DDR RAM speed, MT/s and MHz are used interchangeably, which is not actually correct.

DDR stands for double data rate which means data is transfers on both the rising and falling edges of the clock signal. Meaning that the transfer rate is roughly twice the speed of the I/O bus clock. This RAM module runs at 1200MHz per second, but the effective rate is 2400 megatransfers per second (MT/s) because there are 1200 million rising edges per second and 1200 million falling edges per second of a clock signal running at 1200 MHz.
