Thunderbolt Docks

Thunderbolt is an external computer connection designed by Intel and Apple. What makes it amazing is the speed and what it carries. Power, data and graphics can all travel through a Thunderbolt cable and at the same time!

The first widely use of the Thunderbolt standard was Thunderbolt 2. Almost exclusively used in Macs around 2015. The connector type was Mini Display. If you have a Mac with Thunderbolt 2 connectors, you can use the Thunderbolt 3 docks with an adapter. Thunderbolt 3 is when the standard went mainstream. All Macs and some PCs used Thunderbolt 3, and the connect was USB-C, a familiar connector in the PC world. However PC world sticking to old USB 3 standards really screwed the world moving to a faster connection ports. USB-4 is upon us and yes Thunderbolt 4 and USB-4 are the same, and there is almost universal support for the standard, ie everyone is using it. In terms of speed and compatibility, Thunderbolt 3 and Thunderbolt 4 are the same. What changed in Thunderbolt 4 was better graphic support. Intel has released Thunderbolt 5 and we get USB4.2 which is the same standard. There are unlimited numbers right? Why is it USB4.2 and not USB5? Thunderbolt 5 doubles the transfer speed, gives us double the power and triple the graphics!!
