Guaranteed Mac Compatible

This RAM kit has been specially designed and proven in Crucial's MAC lab and is guaranteed to meet or exceed all Apple specifications. To check compatibility and RAM upgrade options in your Mac, look up your specific model in our dedicated Apple Mac section, and don't be surprised if you can actually upgrade your Mac with double the amount of RAM that was originally specified by Apple.

Here at RamCity we've been upgrading Mac's since 2004 and have experts ready to answer your questions. Just contact us if you need help!

Why is the speed of this RAM kit shown as 1866 MT/s instead of 1866 Mhz?

When it comes to measuring DDR RAM speed, MT/s and MHz are used interchangeably, which is not actually correct.

DDR stands for double data rate which means data is transfers on both the rising and falling edges of the clock signal. Meaning that the transfer rate is roughly twice the speed of the I/O bus clock. This RAM kit runs at 933MHz per second, but the effective rate is 1866 megatransfers per second (MT/s) because there are 933 million rising edges per second and 933 million falling edges per second of a clock signal running at 933 MHz.

Dual Voltage for Newer and Older systems

This RAM kit supports voltages of both 1.35V and 1.5V. If your original installed memory is 1.5V and you are adding a dual-voltage 1.35V/1.5V module to an open DIMM slot, this dual-voltage RAM kit will operate at 1.5V, not 1.35V. If all installed memory modules are dual-voltage 1.35V/1.5V and the system supports DDR3L (1.35V low voltage), then this RAM kit will run at 1.35V.

Save 25% and more over buying a pre-configured server or workstation

Memory and storage account for over half of a typical server’s bill of materials (BOM) cost. Your CTO wants to keep a lid on spending but you need hardware that delivers the performance that your users need. By purchasing servers or workstations with minimal preinstalled components and then installing Crucial server memory, you can save 25% or more on your RAM costs – and maintain your OEM server warranties.

But don't I need to buy RAM and Storage components from my OEM to maintain the warranty?

Similar to how you can upgrade a system’s preinstalled processor or graphics card and choose whichever brand you want, you can also do the same with memory and storage. Laws in Australia, U.S. and all over the world protect comsumers and businesses so that you can swap out manufacturer pre-installed components for more cost-effective third-party components and still retain your product’s warranty. In practical terms, this means you can upgrade to Crucial brand memory without voiding your system’s original warranty. Don’t just take our word for it though, here’s what the manufacturer warranties say:
